When you had no money for toys or games , you got inventive and made your own.
This hockey board is an example of innovation born out of necessity.
The board is obviously made using whatever was available and has been hand painted.
No doubt it would have provided endless hours of simple but probably competitive fun.
Would everyone who had similar home made toys share their stories with the rest of us , I am sure that we all have relatable stories.
For my own self , we made cricket bats out of cypress pine offcuts, they were functional enough but not ideal and jarred like hell when you hit the ball.

Who wants a simple project?
I have found an original cast iron singer sewing machine base that would easily convert in to a very functional and practical hall or outdoor table.
Quick clean up of the base, light sand and repaint with a spray can and then add a top of your choice.
Really quite easy and thoroughly satisfying when complete.
Base for sale now $145.

Another day and look what I found.
A collection of WW2 Japanese invasion notes of different denominations.
These notes were issues by the invasion forces during WW2 to replace the local currency of the occupied country.
Very interesting and highly collectible.
Pop on down and have a look at piece of WW2 military history.

Good morning everyone, what a great game last night but unfortunately no one correctly picked the final score so the bottle of wine goes unclaimed.
Thanks to everyone who had a guess and entered , it was a bit of fun.
I would also like to thank my mate Billy Ramsey for coming to the shop , making up a song about the competition and singing it whilst strumming his guitar , thanks Bill.
I will now set my mind to thinking about a promotion for the next sate of origin game in 3 weeks time.
It will be a similar promotion but with a different twist and a different prize on offer.
Keep your eyes peeled for my post closer to the next game.

Good morning everyone from a glorious winter morning in beautiful down town Dalby.
I came in this morning early to continue with the restoration process of 6 silky oak chairs.
So far I have completed 4 back to raw stage , yet to be polished, with 2 to go.
Once all 6 are completed i will polish them up with a clear finish to highlight the natural warm silky oak colours.
I do have a bit of a quandary in that i am unsure as to what to do with the seats on each chair.
Should I get them covered with a neutral fabric or go with a bolder alternative and look for a regency stripe or even a distinctive floral fabric?
I do have a few metres of a caramel brown fabric but am loathe to use that , I think it is too bland.
Or should I just have them covered in calico and let the potential buyer decide.
Please could everyone give me your collective thoughts on what to cover the seats with.
Thanks in advance for all help.
