This technical demonstration outlines the process of applying a full-length Neosorb cover to a Slimflex® orthotic device.
The application begins by cutting the Neosorb slightly larger than the shoe liner or insole template. A thin, even layer of contact adhesive is then applied to both bonding surfaces and lightly heated, taking care to prevent bubbling.
Starting at the distal edge, the Neosorb is carefully bonded to the device and worked progressively into the heel cup to minimise trapped air, creasing and surface irregularities. Once secure, the cover is marked using the shoe liner or template, trimmed to shape and finished on the grinder. Any residual adhesive at the distal edge should be removed to achieve a clean, professional finish.
The completed device should be checked inside the footwear, with further trimming performed where necessary to prevent the cover from rolling or lifting along the shoe interior.
Neosorb is available in 1.5 mm and 3 mm thicknesses and in a selection of colours and finishes, providing clinicians with options for cushioning, comfort and orthotic finishing.
