Martin and Teresa's daughter, Georgina was keen on having some colour in her new bedroom and I thought it was such a wonderful way for her to express herself. As her tastes are going to grow and change over the years, I put the colour into the artwork and bed linen, which are both interchangeable.

The lamp and furniture are timeless in their style and my hope is that they will last Georgina into her early adulthood when she takes them with her and moves into her own house! Although with a gorgeous bedroom on her own level of the house, I could understand why she may not want to leave…

Martin and Teresa's formal lounge is now elegant, refined and works well with the existing period features I didn’t want to lose. To get the formal provincial style, it was essential to reduce the amount of timber in the room and par back the heavy art deco detail.

Leaving the timber in the fireplace surround and window frames created focus on the architectural feature, allowing a different style to make its presence. Something as simple as painting the two buffets either side of the mantel piece has softened the room and created a welcoming environment that oozes simple, sophistication.

Perhaps just a functional walkway, the attic hallway in Martin and Teresa's Deepdene home also has the possibility of becoming a hangout space for their boys. They could watch TV, have a music jam together, read a book on the comfy floor cushions… anyway or either way this space will be used! The feature wall is warm and inviting and creates a playful atmosphere for the rest of the attic.

Alex and Cathy wanted an instant wow factor from the moment they walked in the front door. The new sleek, modernist staircase with black frame and glass balustrade details is a statement piece in the house. Its angles play with the soft features within the space and the wool carpet in a mid-grey tone sets the scene for the interior drama to evolve.

To give the space impact, I used a gunmetal grey shimmering wallpaper that can look flat or glittery depending on the approach you take. This fine geometric design has a traditional edge to it.
