WIMS & Barista 21

WIMS & Barista 21 WIMS (Walking in my Shoes) is a social enterprise initiation by the Down Syndrome Association of the Now open daily.

WIMS is a retail training shop where young people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability are exposed to the daily running of a shoe shop and all that entails. From sorting stock to presentation, from money skills to banking, from customer service to consumer awareness....all these experiences are here at WIMS. Barista 21 is our newest initiative providing our young adults the opportunity t

o gain further skills and workforce development. A new approach to education, work and social skills development for young people who have Down syndrome. Project 21, Skills 21, Dance 21, Media 21, Graphics 21, Sing 21, Barista 21, WIMS and Social 21 are all registered business names of the Down Syndrome Association of the Northern Territory.

Students from Project21 NT collecting the keys for their new Rav4 vehicle from John at NT Fleet. The car will be used for students to access their programs, places of employment and community. A huge thank you to the Northern Territory Government Community Benefit Fund for this gift. Already on the road, we are loving the comfort and features of the car. Very much appreciated, thank you !

This week we recognise World Down Syndrome Day on Friday.and awareness to help people understand and support those with Down Syndrome better.

This day has been observed since 2012 on the 21st day of the 3rd month to represent the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome
