This piece has always celebrated one of Australia’s most extraordinary marine spectacles. 💙

Seeing the 2026 Giant Cuttlefish season cancelled is heartbreaking. Warmer than usual water temperatures persisted into early June, and despite months of monitoring, the annual aggregation hasn’t eventuated.

As someone who studied marine biology and now creates art inspired by our oceans, news like this hits hard. Our oceans are changing, and moments like these remind us how important it is to protect them.

Here’s hoping these incredible animals recover and return in force next season. 🦑
