If you're new here, welcome 🤎🌿
I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself and share a little bit about the person behind From The Flame Trees.
I’m Sharni. I’m a proud Wakka Wakka woman, wife, weaver and mum of two boys living on beautiful Kabi Kabi Country. We are a homeschooling family, and my days are filled with curiosity, creativity and learning alongside my jarjums. Amongst all of that… is weaving.
There’s something special about weaving alongside everyday life. It’s not separate from motherhood, learning, community or connection - it’s woven through all of it, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I don’t just sit down to weave when I have “free time”. My weaving comes with me wherever I go - from homeschool meet-ups in the community, catch-ups with friends, or simply any time or place I need a moment to slow down, breathe deeply and let my hands create. Weaving fits into the spaces between the everyday moments - It travels with me and becomes part of the conversations, connections and memories made along the way.
It isn't just something I do - it’s part of my culture that I love to share 🌿
Some days that looks like beautiful finished pieces. Other days it looks like tangled fibres, colour experiments, unfinished projects and starting something again because it just doesn’t feel right yet.
I share those moments too, because the beauty for me isn’t only in the finished piece. It’s in the process. The patience. The learning. The connection.
Through From The Flame Trees, I share my love of weaving, storytelling and the humble magic of creating with my hands.
Whether you’re here because you love handmade pieces, want to learn more about weaving, appreciate Aboriginal art and culture, or simply enjoy watching creativity unfold - I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
I’d love to know - what brought you here? 🌿
