What a weekend we had at the show! Many days dedicated to planning a stand and setting it up. We hope you all enjoyed interacting with the stand and thank you to everyone who came up to say hello. This year was the first year where we set up our new demo machine: the Bernina Q20 in a 10ft Studio Frame. Super lightweight to move around the frame and now available to view/try in the shop.
A special thanks to all the people who volunteered their time to make the stand possible.

For the past two weeks, Ella our technician, bravely ventured to land of Alice Springs to do some Melann’s mobile servicing. Nervous to start with, Ella settled in well thanks to the hospitality of Sharon Everett, president of the ASQC (AS Quilt Club), who hosted her whole stay and kept her company being Ella’s handy secretary.
Ella serviced a mountain of machines, including the local school, hospital and long arms.
We are grateful to have people like Ella and Sharon in the sewing community to keep our machines happy and our hearts full.

Usually I don’t share personal life on the business page. But I am sure many of you will be happy to know that I am engaged 💍 and soon to be married in early October 2026! Thank you all for your wishes and congratulations. As much as I’d love to make my own wedding dress, I have accepted with the responsibilities of the business, I will have to pass on that job to Miss Bernadette and I’m excited to see her magic work.
The lucky/very fortunate man is called farmer Arsenios and he lives with a family as big as mine. He is soft, kind and full of love and his eyes are what had me at first meeting. You may see him at this year’s major events helping with the business procedures so be sure to say hi!

The sample for ‘Colour my World’ by Wendy Williams is now complete! Piecing was completed by Catherine and Bernadette and Catherine has quilted the whole quilt! We are so happy with the finished product. This is a block of the month project we are started in starting Tuesday November 10th. Every month we will hold a class to focus on each stage of piecing.

What a special past few weeks we’ve had with special guest tutor Ali from Arabesque Scissors. She came to Melann’s to teach her pattern “The Sewing Space Station”, an all in one storage layout for your sewing/quilting machine. The fabrics choices the ladies used looked fabulous and Ali had great feedback from the participants!
We are thankful for such local talent to be close to us here in Adelaide and look forward to having Ali again.

Starting Monday 4th May, we have local guest tutor visiting us, Ali Phillips, from Arabesque Scissors. She will be teaching how to make one of her patterns ‘The Sewing Space Station’. An ultimate sewing organiser you can take to classes or use in your sewing rooms.
Ali was a tutor at last year’s Quilt Encounter sewing retreat and was enjoyed by many.

Here are some photos of our technicians over the past few years worth of trainings! Willow and Ella have been travelling back and forth from Adelaide to Gosford NSW to keep their certifications current in the Pfaff, Husqvarna and Handi Quilter ranges.
The shop is so fortunate to have such passionate, dedicated young women take care of our sewing machines, overlockers and long arms. Thank you girls for all your hard work, big travels and late nights.

Catherine is busy during the holidays 😊🤐
We are almost back to normal opening hours. This Monday the 5/1/26 we will be closed but reopen Tuesday 6/1/26 at 9am.
The first Saturday of opening we will be closed as well. Enjoy your weekends everyone
