The doors close on The Magpie this afternoon and I am proud to be part of Dungog’s retail history. They say a change is as good as a holiday but I’ll be taking one of them too!
As happy custodian of 220 Dowling Street these past two and a half years and two years prior across the road at 211 Dowling I have been fortunate to meet so many wonderful people from all walks of life.
To all my customers, near and far, thank you for ‘buying local’.
To my shop suppliers with whom strong relationships prospered, thank you.
To the kind friends and family members who have assisted behind my desk over the years, thank you.
To my friend, Jo Thomas, (.co ) for her skillful curation, photography and display advice, thank you.
To my dearest shop neighbours - your support and laughter through the trials and tribulations of the retail world have kept me buoyed and entertained. Thankyou especially to Dom & Tom and Jimmy & Maria
To the locals who drop in for a chat or a laugh, thank you for sharing and trusting me with your stories.
And last, but by no means least, to Joseph - who has supported me and foregone so many shared weekends - thank you.
I apologize for the Oscar-length speech but have been genuinely overwhelmed and humbled by the gracious response to my shop closure. Whilst I will not be leaving The Gog it is time for a change and I am excited for my next chapter.
Thank you all for your continuing support and friendship and never forget that kindness matters. Always.
