George Street East Fremantle

George Street East Fremantle A fabulous street of shops, dining and people. George Street is nestled in the centre of the Plymton Ward in East Fremantle.

An old fashioned shopping high street in the heart of a traditional neighbourhood. Fabulous shops sit side by side harmoniously with homes - we know each other's names, stop to talk on the street, support the businesses and welcome visitors to shop, dine and enjoy all that George Street has to offer. The George Street page is purely the musings of a resident on the street - it is in no w

ay associated with the Town of East Fremantle. If you would like to contribute some news or share a photo you are welcomed to get in touch.

A Plympton icon, reimagined.

Steps from the colour and charm of George Street, this beautifully restored terrace delivers the rarest of Fremantle luxuries: heritage soul, contemporary ease and absolutely nothing left to do.

Behind the white picket fence and tuckpointed limestone façade, original detail meets considered design. High decorative ceilings, wide oregon floorboards, fireplaces and a graceful arched hallway honour the home’s turn-of-the-century origins, while skylights, a designer kitchen, integrated European appliances and a striking two-storey rear addition bring a distinctly modern sensibility.

The result is effortless. Morning coffee on George Street. Dinner at your favourite local. A river walk at sunset. Then home to a private courtyard, secure rear access and lock-and-leave perfection.

Elegant, low-maintenance and completely resolved, this is George Street precinct living at its most polished.

50 King Street, East Fremantle.
Open tomorrow 12 - 12.30pm.

What a day. The community turned up, paintbrushes in hand, and together we transformed the street. For the next two weeks, George Street will host a temporary artwork — a simple trial to see how the community responds.

We’ll be on site this Saturday from 10am–12 noon if you’d like to stop by, take a look and share your thoughts.

Do you like it? Love it, perhaps?

The idea is simple: encourage drivers to look twice, slow down, and quite literally smell the daisies. It’s one small step toward making George Street safer, calmer and more beautiful for everyone. 🌼

Huge thanks to and David for an outstanding day.

This little shop on the corner of George and King is looking a bit different these days.

It was once Matilda’s corner store.

For years during the George Street Festival, an elderly gentleman would stop by my veranda for a cup of tea and a chat. He’d tell me stories of being a young boy, hearing the ship’s horn sound in the harbour — the signal that cargo ships had arrived.

With his stick and hoop, he’d race down to this very store to buy comics freshly delivered from England.

He still had them. One year he brought them with him to show me.

Stories like these are woven into the fabric of this street — quiet, generous moments that stay with you long after the shopfronts change.
