Reminding myself of who I am and why I do what I do..........I wrote this 12 months ago. Before the launch of the Naked Birch Nordic collection I wanted to take the time to give a bit of insight into who I am and my spiritual journey. I was born and raised in New Zealand, the country where all left overs of the worlds beauty exists ๐ Beaches, mountains, green forests and a list of natural wonders that go on forever. Being born a kiwi automatically makes you a eco warrior and honorary member of Greenpeace ๐ I lived there for 34 years before moving to Brisbane, Australia. From a young age nature based faith called me, I remember spending a lot of time as a child scanning the occult and mythology sections of the library (no google back then) i was about 7 years old when this โinterestโ started which must have been quite perplexing to any passing adults in the library! As my faith strengthened my interest in my family history followed. I have been fortunate enough to trace one of my family lines back to the Gaelic/Scandinavian rulers of the Isle of Man. These Viking warriors formed alliances with the prominent families of Ireland, Scotland, England and Norway by marrying the Royal princesses, but its not all regal and powerful, the family lines where I found dead ends confirms that most of my family were everyday people of Scandinavia and the British Isles, the people who worked the land, relied on a good harvest and made offerings to the gods for survival. These discoveries explained a lot about my personality. A bit of a princess combined with angry shield maiden but mostly a everyday girl of the land. It has deepened my connection to my roots and the old ways of the Norse and Celtic pagan faiths. While I live on the other side of the world through my collections I hope to honour my ancestors, the traditions and rituals they practiced and the gods who have brought us back together ๐
