Here's a little project I've been building up for the last little while. These are old Drouyn marching snares that were sitting in storage after the closure of Lithgow City Brass Band. Originally white, then in the 80s painted blue with the NSW Band Association red Waratah emblem. Now decommissioned, these drums have been brought back to life as display drums for the front of stage at the 2026 State Band Championships this weekend at Penrith.
BTW, only 4 drums came from Lithgow, 2 more were added from my collection, and then wrapped and matching Waratah emblems made by the wizard Matt Reynolds from Reynolds Signs. All snare mechanisms have been removed as part of the decommissioning. I'll be there this weekend in the foyer af our trade stall, plus I'll be performing with Sydney Wind Symphony on Saturday night.

Weekends are for enjoying this beast. I imported this 71 Mustang as a project car in 1985, and after 28 years in storage, it finally got that rebuild I had dreamt of. Nowadays, it waits for clear skies and a few rare hours of opening the throttle and hearing that glorious V8.
