Wilson Adventure🐻💦⛰️
Still exploring the High Country, Wilson’s next stop in Harrietville was Joop’s Jetty, a peaceful little corner of the Tronoh Dredge Hole. What looks today like a calm swimming spot was once part of a massive gold‑dredging operation during Harrietville’s mining years. The dredge carved out this deep waterhole as it chewed through the earth in search of gold, leaving behind a still, reflective lake that now feels worlds away from its noisy past.
Families come here for swimming, picnics, and lazy summer days, with a jetty, rope swing, shady spots, and even a wood BBQ nearby. Wilson didn’t brave the rope swing, but he loved the quiet water and the way the mountains mirrored themselves across the surface, a gentle pause in a place shaped by history and softened by time.
