🌳 Whoever looked at a birch tree and thought, "Needs to be upside down"... we thank them.

Betula 'Youngii' (Weeping Birch) enters the chat......

It looks like someone put a bowl cut on a tree... and thought "yep, exactly the look i was going for"

With its cascading branches and graceful umbrella shape, it's one of those trees that people either say:

🌸 Is your garden a little bit confused?

Ours certainly is.

We've got spring flowers blooming, bulbs poking through and trees waking up... despite the calendar insisting it's still winter.

Apparently nobody told the plants.

The good news? You get to enjoy a head start on spring.

The bad news? Winter hasn't officially packed its bags yet, so don't be lulled into a false sense of security. Frost is still very much capable of making an appearance.

Think of it as Fake Spring.

Enjoy the flowers, admire the blossom, but maybe don't rush out and plant your tropicals just yet.

Mother Nature has a habit of saying, "Just kidding." 🥶🌸

Yesterday afternoon we had the pleasure of welcoming the Echuca Moama Centennial Probus Club back to Kennaugh's Garden Centre for a relaxing afternoon of coffee, tea and treats.

While Phil kept everyone well supplied with cuppas and slices, Candice presented a talk on winter gardening, discussing how our traditional view of the seasons is changing and introducing the fascinating Noongar six-season calendar and how it can help guide gardening throughout the year.

The afternoon concluded with a hands-on demonstration showing how to pot an elkhorn into a hanging basket, with plenty of tips to help everyone achieve great results at home.

Afterwards, the group enjoyed browsing the nursery, taking in all the beautiful winter colour and discovering plenty of inspiration for their own gardens.

Thank you to the Echuca Moama Centennial Probus Club for spending the afternoon with us. We always enjoy your visits and look forward to welcoming you back again soon! 🌿☕
