Hi hello it’s me. Thought it might be time for a little reintroduction. My name is Makaila but everyone even my parents, call me Mak. I am the owner of Flower Folk and have been running this business for nine years now. Although it has taken the backseat over the last few years with covid ruining everyone’s wedding plans and while I grew and birthed the second and third of my babies. I am the lucky mother of three beautiful, busy, spirited children. My girl Louie, aged 7 and two boys Henry, almost 3 and Ned, almost 1. The boys were born three days shy of being exactly two years apart. And course I shouldn’t leave out our fluff balls, Hazel the golden cocker spaniel and our newest addition Winnie a creamy toy groodle, both an integral part of our little family. My husband and I are currently building our family’s dream home, he being a builder is literally building it himself! This is the second house we will have designed, styled and built together. It will have a lovely little studio in the backyard for me to run Flower Folk and create lots of lovely florals. After almost 20 years (!!!!) as a florist and 9 years in business I’m so excited to have my first purpose built space just for this. I love flowers but could never name a favorite as I adore so many varieties especially as the seasons change. A few of my all time favorites are dahlias, peonies, hydrangeas, sweet peas, lilac, delphiniums, cosmos, garden roses, snow ball viburnum, tulips, poppies, phlox, water lilies and hellebore (see what I mean). After quite the hiatus I am so excited to be back doing what I love. My bookings for late 2024 and 2025 will be open so soon. Just making sure all my back end is set up to serve all my beautiful future clients in the best way possible.
