We stock all ranges of books including; Art and Design Books, Cookbooks, Food and W**e Books, Biographies, History Books, Gardens and Interiors Books, Travel Books, Sports Books, Crime Books, Books on Current Affairs. We also stock greeting cards, magazines and wrapping paper. We also host a regular book clubs and a weekly story time. Our customers traditionally come from areas of Sydney including

It’s National Indigenous Literacy Day, and this year’s book is the brilliant My Walk Through the Seasons on Ngaanyatjarra Country, written by Ngaanyatjarra Elder, artist, and storyteller Daisy Tjuparntarri Ward.

“I live on the country my family walked for generations before me.
Mum said I was born in Pirriya-Pirriya time, when the sweet flowers were growing… Every season brings something special.

After a busy weekend in the bookshop, here’s what we’ve been loving this week:
The third instalment of a hardboiled crime caper set in early 1980s New York (Anna can confirm you don’t have to read them in order); a man wakes up in hell and it’s a giant library filled with every book that could have possibly have been written, all you need to do is find the story of your life; a woman becomes reacquainted with her old Japanese high school teacher in a sake bar, over a prodigious amount of alcohol and delicious dishes they slowly grow closer; and a bookshop favourite, a rollicking story of a family discovering that there may be something behind the bizarre tall stories and local legends of their new town.

Just testing the angles and light☀️

We’ve also been reading a few good things: a lonely woman becomes obsessed with a famous author; a picaresque story of a family transplanted to Southern Vermont; a young boy is taken under the wing of a community of hardscrabble men; and an anxiety-inducing modern love(?) story.

And now back to our regular programming…

Anna has been enjoying Sigrid Nunez’s first collection of short stories - as urbane, funny, and well-observed as we have come to expect from her novels.

Then we've accidentally hit upon a theme of the uncanny and unsettling: a survivalist story in which a woman inexplicably trapped behind a wall beyond which all life on earth has ended; a Swiss interior designer disappears in a mountain data centre and remerges in a fairy tale world; and lastly a grieving writer uncovers unnerving details in her investigation of a long forgotten author.
