8 months ago we found some war medals in a random donation. After a massive effort from Jason and the Unley RSL it was discovered to be the lost medals of Kenneth William Peters. They were returned to his relatives on ANZAC day 2026. It was an emotional and moving ending and we’re all happy to see the medals reunited and back to their rightful home.

A memorable Anzac Day for the posh opp shoppe. Today Jason, Matthew and myself were at the dawn service in unley, Adelaide. We were there to present the ww2 medals of warrant officer Kenneth William Peters to his great niece Stephanie Gardiner. Warrant Officer Ken Peters was a rear gunner who flew multiple missions over Germany in Stirling bomber and was awarded the distinguished flying medal when he shot down a German fighter. The medals had been donated anonymously in July 2025 to the posh opp shoppe and jason’s dream was to hand them over to a family member. We found out Ken was buried in Adelaide and after a number of calls to various organisations we got in touch with the unley rsl. Thanks to the efforts of Unley RSL president Pieter haverhoek and Liz Gardner, commanding officer of 617 squadron aafc they found his relative Stephanie Gardiner. 617 squadron of the airforce cadets has created an award in warrant officer Peter’s honour and ruby skinner was the inaugural recipient of this award. It was a real highlight to be in unley today in Ken Peter’s hometown. It was an amazing experience.
