Creating a stir on our bookshelves is local artist Belinda Fox’s beautiful book Cultivate. Many spectacular works of art to gaze upon and a story of an artist’s life dedicated to harnessing her talents and curiosity to create awe inspiring art.
Drawing from her skills as a former master printer and fusing together personal and global concerns, Belinda Fox’s work lays bare the paradoxes endemic to contemporary human experience. Working in painting, drawing, glass, sculpture, printmaking and in collaboration, Fox examines the volatility of our era, excavating the iridescent beauty that flickers below the shadowy surface of conflict and despair. Fox grew up in regional Victoria and lived in Singapore and the Netherlands, and is currently based in Melbourne. Fox presents us with artworks in which beauty is a gateway into dense conceptual terrain patchworked with blackness and light, an ‘antidote’ to our polarised epoch; a bridge connecting us through a shared – albeit almost forgotten – humanity.
Come and view her limited edition print 21/50 and book offer 10 Arthur Street Eltham.

Yesterday presenting their new book How To Dress For Old Age, David Carlin and Peta Murray wowed a packed audience of Nillumbik U3A,Healthability and Judge Brookes Village. Their book filled with warm reflections on Coming of Third Age is a perfect read for wintry days. It will make you smile . It will make you weep. It connects to your life and mine. Oh yes there is a bit about smart eyewear and thoughts on what to wear to the oncologist, too. Gift it to young and old. It has perennial value. Signed copies available Eltham Bookshop

Voices of Jagajaga have an afternoon featuring Greg Jericho, outspoken journalist and thinker. Please join the session and show you care for the way we are governed. Greg has contributed an essay to A Time for Bravery. A just published anthology of essays. The theme that is explored is the fact that we are living at a critical point in history with the stubborn problems of rising inequality, rising fossil fuel production, and declining faith in democracy. This is a time for individuals, organisations, communities and our elected representatives to find the bravery we need to not just acknowledge, but address, the challenges we face. This book and other relevant books will be available for sale and signing.
