Far Out Sci fi/fantasy Bookclub Eltham Bookshop features Brave New World by Aldous Huxley for our September meet. Read the book and attend a deep dive into the book with kindred spirits. Birds of a feather- writers, avid readers and loyal friends made up a cosy gathering Eltham Bookshop to celebrate an awesome foursome last night. Mulled wine laced the deep and searching conversation led by Kylie Ladd as Anne Freeman , Michelle Wright Ilka Tampke shared their inner writerly thoughts. Stories that are set in landscapes as varied as prisons, woods,rave bars and hospitals- each exploring what makes us human and connected. Signed copies of the books are available Eltham Bookshop . Put on your cowgirl and cowboy boots to join u3a Nillumbik and Eltham Bookshop in celebrating a just released warm and engaging memoir, Elvis and Me by Gillian Wills on Wednesday September 16th at the Eltham Pavilion. There will be words, music and snacks. Everyone is welcome for this Free event. Bookings are essential. Please call 94398700 or \visit the U3A Nillumbik website to register your attendance. Gillian Wills is a graduate and an honorary associate from the Royal Academy of Music and an author and arts writer who publishes with InReview, Australian Book Review, Limelight, Griffith Review and The Australian. Prior to relocating to Brisbane, Queensland from Victoria, Gillian was Dean of Music at the Victorian College of Arts, Melbourne.
Like Beatrice, the heroine of her critically-acclaimed novel Big Music, nicknamed Beat, Gillian owns three horses, two rescue dogs and three ducks and lives on a small farm on the outskirts of Brisbane.Elvis and Me is her second book. She will travel from Queensland for this morning and there will be guitar interludes.
