“Utingarr meaning Emu in Kalkadoon language. This painting represents celebration of life. Utingarr shows this through its unique style of movement which mirrors a beautiful dance. Utingarr shows shows us humans to embrace our own unique style and dance our dance too. This dinosaur like bird is ancient and a native animal of Australia. These colours also highlight the rich landscapes and blooming flowers out west Queensland desert Mount Isa where Kalkadoon people are from.”

Some of the decision points that go in to preparing frames for a show? In consultation with the artist, we chose a burnished silver inner frame to compliment the cool tones of the work, to accentuate the paintings’ incredible luminosity, and give a nod to their classical style and subject matter. All housed within quality black timber. Some of the practical considerations involved devising frames that would work for different media, substrates, and varying in thickness from 2mm - 4cm. Today is the last day you can see this work in person Beinart Gallery Sean Layh . Just sayin 😉
