Well, in a 'plot twist' as Margaret Hickey describes it, all the events for Margaret's new book have had to be cancelled as she starts treatment for throat cancer. This is just awful news and we wish her well. Cold River, the second book featuring Detective Constable Sally White has arrived today and so this is the time to support a wonderful Aussie author. If you’ve just watched Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ and are itching for some more Greek mythology, here’s one of our favourite reads from last year!

‘Glorious Exploits’ follows two Syracusans who struggle to figure out what to do with the surviving Athenians who attempted to invade their city. In attempt to pass the time, they plan to use their prisoners to put on a production of ‘Medea’…. it’s hard to hate anyone (even your attackers!) when you love their art so much! It’s filled with dark humour and is a deeply moving ode to art, war and humanity.
