🌸 Meet the Bitter Cryptandra (Cryptandra amara)! 🌸

Also known as the Pretty Pearlflower, this tough little Australian native is putting on an absolute show right now! 🤍

✨ Winter Wonderland: While other plants are resting, this wiry shrub covers itself in a profusion of tiny, bell-shaped white flowers from May all the way through to December.
✨ Tough as Nails: Don't let the delicate flowers fool you. It loves full sun, thrives in rocky or sandy soils, and is highly frost and drought-tolerant once established.
✨ Size Matters: Growing up to 1 metre tall, it makes the perfect compact filler. There’s even a dwarf version called 'Nana' that is absolute perfection for rockeries!
✨ Local Legend: It’s native across eastern Australia, though it's sadly listed as endangered down in Tasmania, making it a true conservation gem.

✂️ Gardener's Tip: Give it a light prune right after its spring flowering peak to keep it beautifully dense and compact.

We currently have a limited number available from our first batch if propagation, so come grab one today!

Chamelaucium uncinatum, commonly known as the Geraldton Wax, is an iconic Australian native shrub famous for its masses of waxy flowers and aromatic, pine-like foliage. It belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) and is highly valued both as a hardy garden plant and a long-lasting cut flower.

Key Characteristics

Appearance: Features fine, needle-like green leaves that release a pleasant citrus scent when crushed.

Flowers: Displays five-petalled, waxy blooms typically ranging from white and pink to deep purple or mauve, usually appearing from late winter through summer.

Size: Typically grows into an open, spreading shrub between 1.5 to 3 metres high and wide, though dwarf cultivars are available.

Essential Care Guide

Sunlight: Full sun is essential. It requires at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to maximize flower production.

Soil: Must be sharply drained. It thrives in sandy, gravelly, or light loamy soils with an acidic to neutral pH. It will not tolerate heavy clay or waterlogged ground.

Watering: Low water needs once established. Water deeply during its first first summer, then rely mostly on natural rainfall. Overwatering leads to root rot.

Climate: Highly drought-tolerant and handles light frost. It thrives in dry-summer climates but struggles in regions with high summer humidity.

Pruning: Prune lightly but regularly. Cut back by up to one-third immediately after flowering finishes to maintain a compact shape and encourage more blooms for next season. Avoid cutting back into old, leafless wood.

We currently have 140mm pots in stock... get them in now for a spectacular spring show!

Chorizema cordatum is back!!

This evergreen Western Australian shrub is highly celebrated for its brilliant display of orange-red, pink and yellow pea flowers.

Typically growing to around 0.5-1.2 metres high and wide, this nitrogen fixer is also fantastic for attracting native birds and bees.

Available for a short time as numbers are limited and will fly out the door once the flowers pop!

Ideally in dappled shade or morning sun, ensure its protected from harsh afternoon sun, which can bleach the flowers... It prefers a slightly acidic soil, sandy and free draining is a must!

Simple, striking, and easy to appreciate — Corymbia citriodora (Lemon-Scented Gum) is a standout for all the right reasons 🌿

Its smooth, pale trunk naturally sheds to reveal fresh bark, colored from pink to yellow, giving it a clean, almost sculptural look year-round. The leaves release a crisp lemon scent when crushed — a small detail that makes a big impression 🍋

It’s a great choice if you’re after height without heaviness, offering light shade and a relaxed, open feel in the garden.

A solid option for adding structure and a bit of character to your space, without overcomplicating things.
