We have so many new collections arriving next month, which we’re so excited about! But first a couple of reprints of our best-sellers.

Our Country, Our Stories is a 16 book set (2 copies of 8 titles), perfect for early learning centres, kindergartens and preschools as each book is an introduction to first concepts through stories of the natural world.

We have been selling a variation of the Nature Collection from Walker Books for as long as I can remember (at least 15 years!), and we’ve just launched our biggest version yet, with 15 books. We know this will sell out again because it’s one educators and kids come back to again and again. With a couple of new titles, and all the favourites included this one is so great for centre libraries, reading corners and nature incursions. This collection is unique in its appeal as it’s just as welcome in the early primary years as it is early learning settings. And for only $45 for 15 books (just $3 per book), you can’t beat it for value!

One book a day.
Children who are read one book a day hear around 290,000 more words before they start school than children who aren’t read to at all. At five books a day it’s 1.4 million.
The reason isn’t the number of books. It’s the words inside them.
Thermals. Talons. Carrion. Pothook. Allopreening. Five words from one picture book about wedge-tailed eagles. Two of those I had to look up myself 😂, and I sell children’s books for a living. None of them are coming up over morning tea and that’s where the word gap sits. Books, and specifically picture books, have language that regular conversations rarely do.
So if you change one thing this week, make it repetition. Read the same book three days running. Children pick up more new words from one book read three times than from three different books read once each.

We’re so excited to be exhibiting at our first ACA QLD conference this weekend. We absolutely love these events and the opportunity we get to connect with dedicated early learning professionals and chat all things picture storybooks, the magic of reading with young children and how we can support centres in gifting books so that all children get to take home a book of their own.

Found this at my parents place these school holidays. A 2008 SCB catalogue where our 10 book collections were $40.

Today our packs are $30-$35, less than $4 per book.

Everything feels expensive right now. We’ve tried to make sure children’s books aren’t.

We can’t believe term 1 is nearly over! Here are two of our favourite book collections for navigating conversations with children in the early years. A great resource to add to the shelf ready for term 2.
