Spooky season is almost here, which means I’ve been spending an unreasonable amount of time researching the actual history behind magical words and phrases. 🔮
A few of these surprised me:
🔮 Abracadabra was once written as a diminishing charm and worn around the neck to drive away illness.
🔮 Merry Meet has a documented association with witchcraft going back to at least 1664.
🔮 So Mote It Be is older than modern Wicca and came through Masonic ritual language before becoming part of witchcraft.
🔮 And And So It Is seems to have entered modern witchcraft through New Thought, affirmations, and manifestation culture rather than early Wicca.
