“For most people, coffee is beneficial” he says. “The primary reason for this is polyphenols, which nourish your gut microbes, promoting a thriving microbial community, which we know is linked to better metabolic health, lower inflammation and reduced disease risk. Coffee is also a surprisingly good source of fibre – 1.5 grams per cup. So, if you’re having three cups a day, you’re getting 4 grams or 5 grams of fibre.”

About 75 per cent of Australians enjoy at least one cup of coffee a day. If you want to gain the most health benefits, however, there are “better” ways to drink it, and it has nothing to do with single origin beans.
