Spring has arrived and the Franklin Progress Association are delighted to announce that The Franklin Collective will open in the Palais Theatre on Friday 25th September. The Collective will then be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 til 3.

On Saturday 7 November, the Franklin Progress Association is organising a community Garage Sale at the Palais Theatre, to coincide with the national Garage Sale Trail. Now is the time to have a good look around your home, garage or shed, and find all those items you want to sell.

Please note - this is just a heads up. We will take bookings for space (with or without trestle table) from 30 September, and will determine cost of table or space at that time. So if you are interested, keep an eye out for a community Facebook post at the end of September, telling you how to do this.

Put it in the diary - the next movie night at the Franklin Palais Theatre is on 2 August with doors open at 6pm and the movie getting underway at 6:30pm.

Each year the Franklin Progress Association (FPA) organises Franklin’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service, as well as associated eve...

Each year the Franklin Progress Association (FPA) organises Franklin’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service, as well as associated events on the day. At these events, the FPA raises money for Hobart Legacy - an organisation that currently cares for just under 400 widows/ers and children of incapacitated and deceased veterans in Southern Tasmania.

The very well attended Dawn Service at the Franklin war memorial was followed by a community breakfast at the Franklin Bowls Club. A screening of the classic film ‘Battle of Britain’ was held at the Palais Theatre later in the day, along with a fundraising BBQ and raffle.

A huge thank you to those in our community who attended the events and generously donated to assist in raising funds for Legacy during these events.

The FPA would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the various community groups, local organisations and businesses that supported these Anzac Day events, including the Franklin Bowls club, Franklin Fire Brigade, Living Boat Trust and Bendigo Bank Huonville.

We also would like to acknowledge and thank the many local community businesses and organisations who generously donated items for the raffle, including:

In total the FPA raised $942.84 on the day. Several FPA members were invited to a recent lunch at Hobart Legacy where FPA president, Shane Johnson, presented a cheque to David Waddle, President of Hobart Legacy.
Next year we will continue to hold these events and will connect locally with the RSL's within our community to collaborate on the Anzac Day movie event.
