Mindful message for the week
Up and Out
To heal the parts of me that feel hurt, I must feel every emotion. It has to come up to come out. I don't try to push my feelings away; I sit with them and feel them as I release them.

Come down and support the local musicians.
Bring the whole family. It's a great day out, loads of different stalls to browse, food court for something to eat. It's heated indoors and pet friendly. It's right on the waterfront, watch the ships get guided in by the tough little tugboats. Paid Parking available, also the train station is across the tracks. Get out and enjoy the end of winter sun 🌞

🦓 The Mystery & Magic of the Zebra

Zebras may look familiar, but there is something wonderfully unusual about them.
Their stripes are unique to each individual, much like fingerprints. And despite appearing black and white to us, zebra skin underneath the stripes is actually black.
One of the more fascinating theories about their stripes is that they help confuse biting flies. When many zebras stand together, their patterns can also make it harder for predators to single out one animal.
And here's a beautiful one: zebras can recognise one another by their stripe patterns—even from a distance.
Spiritually, the zebra has become a powerful symbol of balance and duality.
Black and white.
Light and shadow.
Strength and gentleness.
Standing out while still belonging to the herd.
Unlike horses, zebras have never been successfully domesticated on a large scale. They're famously independent, intelligent and unpredictable—which has helped give them an almost wild-spirit symbolism.
In African folklore and traditional storytelling, zebras can represent individuality, freedom, community and the ability to move between opposing worlds.

✨ The message of the Zebra:
You don't have to choose between your light and your shadow. Both are part of who you are. Your differences aren't something to hide—they are your pattern, your identity and your strength.

🦦✨ THE MEERKAT — SMALL CREATURE, BIG LESSONS ✨🦦

Have you ever wondered why meerkats always seem to be standing tall, watching the world around them? 👀

There’s a lot more to these little creatures than their adorable appearance!

🌿 A LITTLE MEERKAT WISDOM

Native to southern Africa, meerkats live in dry, open environments and highly social groups called mobs, sometimes numbering around 30.

They take turns acting as sentinels, standing upright and watching for predators while the others feed, play and groom. When danger approaches, an alarm call alerts the whole group.

They're remarkably adapted to their environment too. Their dark eye markings help reduce the glare of the sun, and they can close their ears while digging to keep out sand.

🌍 IN FOLKLORE & STORYTELLING

Across southern African storytelling traditions, animals often carry lessons about survival, cooperation, cleverness and community.

The meerkat's natural behaviour makes it a beautiful symbol of the watcher — the one who stays alert, looks beyond the obvious and watches over those around them.

🌙 AND MYSTICALLY?

The meerkat can represent awareness, protection, community and trusting your instincts.

If one keeps appearing in your life, perhaps it's a little reminder to look around, pay attention and listen to your intuition.

And remember:

You don't always have to stand guard. Sometimes you watch over others, and sometimes someone watches over you. 🧡

Stay alert. Stay connected. Trust your instincts. And don't be afraid to stand tall.

Sometimes the smallest creatures carry some of the biggest lessons.
