When the person behind you isn't pedaling enough then swing by our shop and we'll put a motor and battery on! This was a quick job done on a tandem bike to make it electric. Front hub motor and a tube battery will give a powered riding range of about 60km.

The lads warming up for our first trial game of bike polo. If anyone is keen to join, we are going to start trying to get a small game of bike polo going. We've got 4 keen Solar Bike staff, only one with any experience. We're going to try to meet at Solar Bike head quarters at 5.30 on Friday and then ride to a local tennis court. Am thinking that technology has nearly caught up enough to seriously start re-considering the cost, practical and ecological benefits of a hydrogen bicycle. An ebike may be a perfect way to start development of this technology for other applications to follow. Li ion batteries have certainly evolved quickly and provided an excellent energy storage system for bikes and cars but they also have a significant financial and environmental cost and are by no means renewable. The energy expenditure to mine the required elements and production of a very refined product is high. Hydrogen is simply a fuel source, much like a battery but lends itself to generation through multiple means, particularly well through solar PV/proton exchange membrane (PEM) system. We're very keen to start developing a practical hydrogen bicycle and power system using a simple PEM and H2 low pressure gas system. We have ebike/solar/power system skills but is there anyone out there keen to team up with skills in low pressure (~300 bar) gas valve systems and/or low pressure hydrogen tanks (carbon fibre/PE/stainles steel?
