This is a story for those who might need to learn that being flexible can lead to exciting new adventures, and that sometimes your friends aren't who you tell them they are! It's a little bit about learning to make your voice heard, a little bit about making sure games are fun for everyone and quite a bit about how much fun playing pretend is - especially when you play-act as a goose and a dog!

We recommend this story for children aged 2 - 5 and their families.

This is a funny story. It's perfect for those who like a little bit of silliness mixed in with suspense, and for those who love to read pictures as much as they like to listen to words. Lian Cho has created a delightful world (though filled with a quite few fish-eating predators) with a lighthouse we'd very much like to live in, and a bear and a fish we'd like to be friends with.

Now that we have the lovely Paper Bird Studio to host classes & events from, we're pleased to share that Story Makers and Art Classes are returning!

STORY MAKERS
Ages 2 - 5
At Story Makers we read stories, sing songs, and have lots of fun making very messy and playful art! We often play with paint, collage, bubbles, construction, and potion-making, so make sure you wear clothes you don't mind getting art on. Story Makers are for little ones and their parents/carers to enjoy together.

ART CLASSES
Ages 7 - 9 and 10 - 12
Afternoon art classes blend skill-building activities with creative, open-ended projects that students can use to build and share their own stories. Term 3 Art Workshops will be casual classes, each exploring a fun new mini-project. From Term 4 onwards classes will be run in 5 week project blocks.

Bookings are essential and class sizes are kept small (under 8 participants). Programming starts the week of Monday 31 August (Week 7). Tickets available through the link in bio or paperbird.com.au/events. We hope to see you there!

We need to make some room for new stories, which means you can come and get some excellent books on sale! We have a range of picture books, junior fiction, middle fiction, YA and non-fiction titles priced for $5 or $8 on the sale table upstairs in the gallery and in our sale cart out the front. Come and browse this weekend!

Please note only books on the sale table and in the sale cart are discounted.

After hearing how much everyone loved our Illustration Market in May, we’ve decided to host our first Christmas Art and Illustration Market in partnership with !

Applications are open now for artists and illustrators, including youth creatives. More information and applications available through the link in bio or paperbird.com.au/events.

Book Clubs are coming up on Friday 28 August and we're excited to hear what the kids' thoughts are on our latest picks - each month they have a new favourite book!

This month we’ve selected:

Our Clubs are informal, happy afternoons where kids get to meet like-minded readers and talk about everything they’re reading, illustrating, writing or listening to. Our facilitators are fun and great at guiding discussions and inspiring kids. We love reading, and we want kids to love reading too. We supply snacks and art materials, and let kids do the talking!
