This process happens when minerals slowly replace the original material, preserving the shape while transforming it into gemstone-like stone.

Because both dinosaur fossils and opals are rare, finding a fossilized tooth made of opal is considered extremely unusual.

An enormous 11,000-carat ruby has been discovered deep beneath the mountains of Myanmar near Mogok — one of the most famous ruby-producing regions in the world.

Scientists believe giant rubies like this form under extreme heat and pressure miles beneath Earth’s surface over millions of years.

Most rubies used in luxury jewelry weigh only a few carats.

This one weighs over 11,000.

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary rough stone.
But hidden inside could be one of the most extraordinary crystal structures ever uncovered. ✨

Its deep red color comes from traces of chromium locked inside the mineral as the Earth slowly forged it underground long before human civilization even existed.
