β οΈ COMMUNITY PSA β KEEP YOUR COLLECTION SAFE β οΈ
Over the past few weeks we've noticed an increase in people bringing cards into HBT Collectables to buy, sell or grade, only to find out they're unfortunately not genuine.
From what we've seen, these cards weren't purchased from Geelong's local game stores. Many of the fake cards and packs we've inspected appear to have been purchased through online marketplaces (such as Facebook Marketplace) or local market stalls.
We hate seeing collectors lose their hard-earned money, so here's a few friendly reminders:
ποΈ Buy from reputable businesses whenever possible. Established stores are accountable under Australian Consumer Law and are much easier to go back to if there's an issue with your purchase.
π§Ύ Ask for a receipt. For purchases over $75, businesses must provide one. For purchases of $75 or less, you can request a receipt and they must provide it within 7 days. Keep it somewhere safeβit could save you a lot of headaches later.
π° If the deal seems way too good to be true... it probably is. We all love a bargain, but a "PSA 10 Moonbreon for $50" or someone selling Black Bolt or White Flare booster packs for $5 should probably set off a few alarm bells. π
β Not sure if something is real? Ask! We'd much rather spend a couple of minutes helping you before you buy than be the ones breaking the bad news afterwards.
This isn't about shaming anyone or pointing fingers. It's about helping collectors make informed purchases, protecting your hard-earned money, and keeping Geelong's TCG community safe.
Let's keep Geelong's collecting community fun, safe and full of real cardboard. π
