System Update: The New Architecture of Phantom Phase

Over the last year, I’ve shared the profound internal refactoring that has taken place - the journey of aligning my external reality with the authentic, internal operating system of Mx. Daniell.

Now that the major physical hardware updates are complete and I am deep into my recovery, I am slowly bringing the workshop back online. But just as the internal OS has evolved, the external architecture of Phantom Phase must evolve with it.

The traditional, heavy retail storefront at www.phantomphase.com.au is being decommissioned. Maintaining a massive automated store doesn't align with the reality of how these tools are created. Phantom Phase is, quite literally, just me. Every pm3, horous, and upcoming device is hand-built, coded, and tested at my bench.

Moving forward, this page will be the central hub. I am shifting entirely to a bespoke, small-batch 'Maker' model. It’s leaner, more direct, and removes the pressure of maintaining an 'always in stock' illusion for devices that take immense time and focus to build.

If you are looking for a device, simply send a direct message here. We will handle all orders, custom color requests, and waitlists personally.

Payments will be processed directly, keeping the overhead low and the focus entirely on the tech.

Please allow a little grace on response times, as I am balancing my physical recovery with time at the bench.

I will post updates here when a new batch of devices is ready for the wild, or when R&D milestones are hit for the upcoming h3 and pm1 c.

Right now, the workshop is spinning up slow. The focus is on quality, intention, and building tools that push the boundaries of how we listen to the world around us.

Some systems are iconic. They represent a foundational code, a language that has been used for generations to try and bridge the gap between here and there.

​The classic Ouija board is that iconic system. My work with the Phantom-Phase Planchette isn't about replacing it, but about upgrading the interface. It's about taking that familiar language and translating the output into a clearer, more quantifiable digital signal.

​To clarify a common question: my device is not an Ouija board itself. It is an instrument - a sensitive input device that uses the classic board as its user interface to interpret micro-movements and environmental data. It’s the modern ghost in a classic machine.

​To celebrate this blend of old and new, and as a nod to the season, I've created a special, limited edition Hasbro-themed Planchette with a bone-white body to match the iconic original (pictured). This, along with a limited Halloween-themed PM3 in black and orange, is now live in the store.

There's a necessary quiet that follows a powerful signal.

​The Geelong Gaol Dark Arts Expo was exactly that - a strong, clear signal broadcast from inside a cell. The energy, the connections, and the conversations with so many of you were incredible. A massive and heartfelt thank you to every single person who came to the stall, shared their time, and connected, human to human.

​For those who have been waiting for the remaining stock to be listed online, the update is coming tomorrow. Today has been reserved for a necessary system cool-down; a "brain break" to let the processor idle and catch up on the essential life-admin that gets pushed aside when you're in deep creation mode.

​I also need to take some proper photos, as a few of the devices were printed in unique colours during a last-minute moment of "why not?"- a creative glitch in the production code that I'm really happy with.

​The online store will be updated tomorrow with everything that's left. Thank you for your patience and for being part of this journey. The quiet is welcome, but the signal remains strong.

There’s a certain kind of quiet that comes after a long period of static. A clarity.

For months, I’ve shared the metaphorical journey of ‘refactoring’ the old code I was running on. Today, I want to share the quiet clarity that comes after the work is done.

​Some of you have known for a while that I identify as non-binary. But there can be a disconnect between knowing a line of code and seeing the program running in full colour. This post is about finally aligning the external hardware with the internal operating system.

​I am a transgender, non-binary person. My pronouns are they/them. The person you see here is the most authentic version of me, and I'm finally at a place of peace where I can share them with you.

​My hope in sharing this so openly is that when we meet in person - perhaps at the upcoming Geelong Gaol Dark Arts Expo - that there is no shock or surprise. Only a clear and genuine connection, human to human.

​This new, integrated energy is already flowing back into the work. The reworked PM3 had a flawless field test last night. And I’m so excited to officially announce that I will be at the Geelong Gaol Dark Arts Expo on October 11th. As I'm still carefully managing my return to the workshop, stock will be limited, but I can't wait to connect with you all and take expressions of interest for the next phantom phase.

Sometimes, to move forward, you have to go back to the source.

This past Saturday, I took my first successful step back into the workshop. When deciding where to begin again after the upheaval, the choice was clear. The pm3 represents a moment of pure creative momentum—the highest peak I reached before the static took over. To regain that energy, it felt right to return to its source.

The device has always worked beautifully, but its original code was like a tattered field journal from that last expedition—filled with brilliant discoveries and frantic notes that worked in the heat of the moment. It was a functional, chaotic record of creation.

This rework is about taking that journal and transcribing it into a master schematic. It's about finding absolute clarity in the design, stripping away the old noise, and ensuring the foundational logic is clean, elegant, and built to last. It’s about making sure the signal isn't just received, but that it's understood with pristine clarity.

You can get so used to navigating a familiar illusion that you fail to see the elegant truth of the code running underneath. This process is a conscious choice to see things as they truly are, and to build a stronger future from that truth. The device that comes out of this will be the same on the outside, but its soul will be stronger.

Pouring my focus back into my greatest achievement is a deliberate act—it's how you turn a potential system crash into a complete system upgrade. The signal is getting clearer every day. 👻

Felt good to be back out in the shadows last night, reconnecting with the unique and powerful energy of the Asylum. There’s a certain clarity that only comes from standing in a place so heavy with history, and it's sparked a new sense of purpose in me.

I'm so grateful for the patience and support this community has shown me as I've been going through a period of intense personal recalibration. Thank you for holding the space for me.

That clarity has inspired my next step. I've decided to go back to the very heart of Phantom-Phase and begin a complete code rewrite of the PM3.

For the tech-heads and developers out there, you'll know this as 'refactoring.' The device's function won't change on the outside, but I'm rebuilding its internal architecture from the ground up—making it cleaner, more efficient, and stronger, based on everything I know now.

And it occurred to me that this is a perfect mirror for the personal work I've been doing. I've had to look at the old, messy code I was running on—the programming written in moments of survival, full of bugs and outdated beliefs. I've had to dismantle it, piece by piece, and start writing a new, cleaner, more authentic operating system for myself. One based on radical accountability, but also on self-compassion.

It's a vulnerable and sometimes painful process, but it's also incredibly empowering. I'm learning that my complexity isn't a bug; it's a feature.

So, please bear with me a little longer. This rewrite—both for the PM3 and for myself—is a complex and lengthy process, but it's the most important work I can do right now. The goal is to come back with something, and as someone, stronger, clearer, and more powerful than before.

The workbench is calling.

I just wanted to start by saying a heartfelt thank you for the incredibly kind and supportive messages on my last post. To feel that level of understanding from within this community was a powerful reminder of what we've built here. It truly meant the world.

In that update, I mentioned needing to use my own tools on myself. Part of that work was a spontaneous trip to the coast and the hot springs this week — a journey to recalibrate, face some fears, and just sit with the quiet.
And in that quiet, I found some real clarity. For a long time, I've struggled with the feeling of being 'too much' or too complex. I'm now starting to accept that I am simply a blend of all my parts: the Technician who sees the world in systems and logic; the Clinician who feels empathy deeply and is fluent in the language of healing; and the Creator who thinks in metaphor and builds worlds from words and ideas.

My greatest hope, moving forward, is to find connections built on genuine curiosity. With people who aren't intimidated by complexity, but lean into it. People who don't disregard the layers, but want to explore them through clear and honest communication; sharing thoughts and ideas without fear of rejection, abandonment or judgement.

It feels like a new chapter, one guided by authenticity above all else. I'm looking forward to bringing this clearer sense of self to Phantom-Phase and everything that comes next.

Subject: On Silence, Static, and Finding a New Signal.

Hello everyone. It’s Daniell.

I feel it's important to be transparent about my recent silence and the slowness of the "soft launch." Many of you have shown incredible patience, and you deserve an honest update on what’s happening behind the scenes at Phantom-Phase.

To be frank, I am struggling. For those who have followed my journey, you know I’ve been navigating a period of profound personal upheaval. What I'm learning is that when you go through something that dismantles your world, the creative and analytical parts of your brain are often the first to go offline. Your system diverts all its power to survival. That’s where I have been, and in many ways, still am. There is a significant creative block that has kept me from the workbench.

The truth is, my relationship with Phantom-Phase has become more complex. For a long time, it was a sanctuary I could hide inside—a world of logic, energy, and communication that I could control when my own life felt out of control. But now, as I stand here sorting through the pieces of a life that has been completely redefined, I look at the core mission of my work and feel overwhelmed by its new, personal significance.

I recently had a powerful realization. My life's work, the entire SCORE framework, is dedicated to facilitating communication where it seems impossible. It's about finding a meaningful signal in the static for others, and connecting heartbreak to the heartfelt.

I now understand that I am being called to apply that same framework to myself. I have to learn how to listen to my own signal, interpret the anomalies of my own grief, and find a dialogue with the parts of myself that have been suppressed for so long. The work was never just about chasing ghosts; it's about learning how to communicate. And right now, my most important work is internal.

This is a huge, unsettling process. And if I am to be completely honest with you all, it is an isolating one. I feel overwhelmed and, at times, very much alone in it.

So, I am taking my time. I am rebuilding slowly—not just the workshop, but myself. I promise you that the first new devices will be built, but they will be built when the energy is right, because you all deserve my absolute best. Your orders are here, and they are my priority, but my well-being must be part of that process.

Your support, your patience, and your kind words are a constant reminder that there is a community here. Thank you for holding the space. The signal will get clearer.
