If you're heading to Japan to go guitar shopping, here's my 3 most important tips (as someone who has been 11 times in the last three years). #3 is the most important.

1) Don't look for something specific. You won't find it. Go with an open mind and buy something you think is cool, rather than something you have in your mind.

2) Make sure you can get it home. This isn't all that easy if you're travelling, especially if it's early in the trip. Most stores will ship within Japan to your hotel, but you won't get tax free benefits. Find a nice hardcase for the flight home.

3) Just go to our website and buy there. Our prices are genuinely about the same as Japan at the moment for a majority of things. Not an online guy? Visit our Gladesville or Gabba stores.

We were lucky enough to secure all three of the 1st Anniversary Fender Flagship Esquire models at the Harajuku store a few weeks ago. Only available in-store in Tokyo and always sold out.

Two of them aren't for sale, but one of them is now on the website..

I picked up this 1959 Fender Jazzmaster from .instruments a few months ago and asked .guitar.finishing.co to make it incredible.

The result is objectively the best guitar we've ever had in the shop. Nitro relic with gorgeous checking and the most tasteful wear imaginable. Pete is one of the most under-rated luthiers in the country and actually seems to love what he does, a refreshing change from most of the grumpy old men in the industry.
