Last night, Suzie Miller launched her new novel, Inter Alia, to a packed Everest Theatre, continuing our Seymour Explores series. Thank you to Suzie, in-conversation host Jo Dyer, Gleebooks and the University of Sydney for making it such a wonderful night.

Our tried & trusted method for relaxing post-SWF: tea and biscuits. If the Gleebooks staff went a day without either of these there would probably be a riot.

It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a team of incredible booksellers to set up a bookshop, serve thousands of customers, and pack it all up within a week. Thank you to everyone who visited our SWF pop-up shop! We couldn’t do it without your support. Chookas to the fantastic team, and shoutout to our beloved director David for keeping the show on the road. See you again next year! 🥳

What are we reading? 📚

James: Deborah Levy - My Year In Paris With Gertrude Stein

Deborah Levy’s talent for finding meaning in the initially baffling is wonderfully evident in this sly inhabitation of the life and work of Gertrude Stein.

Neither quite a novel nor quite a biography, ‘My Year In Paris With Gertrude Stein’ instead presents its characters with a feline nuzzle, sending them circulating through the reader’s mind like a bent-eared cat slinks around table legs for the best anecdotal scraps.

Levy at her most Levy-ness, ‘My Year In Paris With Gertrude Stein’ is abundant with urbanity, intrigue and wit.

Who is this mysterious man and what is he reading? 📚

David: The Trap - Fiona Kelly McGregor

Fiona Kelly McGregor is an amazingly inventive and original writer. “Iris” was a one-of-a-kind book matched by “the Trap”, a pitch-perfect  evocation of the world of Sydney WWII-era of criminality, and grimy corruption and repression.

Read the book and then come to our upcoming event with Fiona on Wednesday June 24 to hear all about it! Bookings via the Gleebooks website.
