Pricing for artworks - some questions answered.
I’m getting lots of enquiries about pricing, which is lovely. Really appreciate the interest!! 😊 So I thought I’d just share some info.
Prices for my commissioned artwork depend on a variety of factors. The quality of the reference photos provided, whether there’s extra design work required, size, etc. As a broad example, for a painting of pets such as the pictures included in this post would range from $200 (cat on A3 synthetic paper) -$300 (dog on illustration board).
I paint because I love it obviously but I aim to keep the price accessible so I can share the love!! I try to value the effort, the time and the skill (I hope!) but I don’t price based purely on hours - that would be well under the minimum hourly wage!! 🤣
I limit the number of commissions I take at any time to ensure I can give my absolute best to each piece and once work commences, I try to complete it within a month. I’ll work in with the customer where I can to try and ensure complete satisfaction, but please remember it’s an artistic interpretation - not a reproduction. So perfection is not what I’m after!
I have no issue if people want to pay in instalments but full payment just needs to be received before delivery.
Are my prices too cheap? Probably, but I’d rather paint more pictures than just hang out for a few at a higher rate.
Are my prices too expensive? If you don’t like what I have to offer, then absolutely!! 🤣🤣🤣 No issue from me, each to their own (but why are you here?)
I would love to devote my time to do this as my sole career, so I am grateful for every painting I get commissioned to do. Right now, I work to balance out costs and pay a few bills/credit card. Any support, promotion, assistance, commissions, donations are greatly, greatly appreciated.
