Here is an interesting comparison of two Schreiber bassoons. One is an S31 from 1989, the other is an S71 from 1990. Can you see the difference? The S31 has two Ab tone holes where as the S71 has the single Ab. Modern Schreiber bassoons all have a single Ab . Am I looking at a little bit of manufacturing history?
