To Our Valued Customers,
In March 1968 Queensland Hosiery Mill (then known as Golden Sun Hosiery) came into being. With nothing but a dream and two secondhand machines Ernest Smith, the founder, and his wife Marjory set out to build a business that would not only support their family but that could also one day be passed down to their children. Their son Jim and his wife Carolyn took over in March 1998.
56 ½ years! It’s a long time to be in business. As a family we have worked hard and been through many transitions. We bore witness to the change from purely mechanical machinery to today’s computer driven models; we’ve moved locations as we’ve grown; we’ve totally restructured the operations to accommodate new laws; we’ve survived a fire that took us 9 months to fully recover from and we’ve gotten through the GFC and the Pandemic to name just a few of the major challenges.
It has taken endless commitment, patience and perseverance but most of all it has taken a dedicated team who have delivered a standard of excellence such that we have developed a group of loyal customers who have continued to come back over and over again. And the absolute truth is that we couldn’t have done it without you. It was your loyal support, thoughtfulness, generosity of spirit and care that helped us get through those uncertain times and gave us purpose each and every day to serve you in the best possible capacity. We feel forever blessed and eternally grateful to you all.
So here we are……… This week marks the end of an era. As we retire, Queensland Hosiery Mill leaves our family and passes to another Australian family with a similar heritage and the same set of values. We are absolutely sure we have left you in the very best of hands with Raffaele and his team at CompuKnit Hosiery Australia who are ready, willing and able to fulfil all your requirements. Please reach out to them for your ongoing needs. You will be in the very best of hands.

In closing, we just want to say how grateful we are to you for supporting our Australian family owned and run business for so long. Your loyalty has enabled us to personally employ many other Australians over the years which has helped keep food on their tables and rooves over their heads as well as allowing us to support many other Aussie businesses and people too. It is perhaps what we are most proud of and, again, we couldn’t have done it without you.
As we look forward to taking life at a slower pace, we express not just how thankful we are to you but also offer our deepest and sincerest wishes that your futures be bright, abundant and prosperous and that your hearts always be full.
Jim and Carolyn
