Today I'm finishing off the fretwork on this lovely Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan signature Strat. It had a slight dip in the neck from the 9th fret which caused buzzing issues, so I did an under string fret level. Now I know all the frets are level under tension I just have to dress the frets, set the correct relief and set it up.

Here I am removing the worn frets from the Takamine. First, I heat the fret which melts any glue that may be holding it in place. Then I lift the very edge of the fret and insert a metal protector, which prevents any splits as I'm lifting the fret out. Then I carefully work my way over and voila- it's out!

Matt has recently purchased this well loved old Takamine for a bit of a steal. Its previous owner evidently was a real strummer - just look at that fretboard and the wear on the first 6 frets! I'm gonna leave the fretboard as is, as it won't affect playability (plus it looks freakin cool!) but I will do a partial refret.

I've been busy polishing the 1986 Charvel Model 6 that I'm restoring. To get this finish I dry sand 600, 800, 1000, 1200 and 1500 using super Assilex sanding sheets, then wet sand 2000, 3000 and 4000, then buff with Merzerna 400 compound, then finish buff with Merzerna 3500 compound. It's a pretty exhaustive process, but the results speak for themselves.
