IS YOUR “CLEAN” TANK WATER ACTUALLY CLEAN? 👀💧

We love saying “we’re on tank water.”

But… when was the last time you actually thought about what goes into that tank?

Before rainwater reaches your tank, it hits your roof.

Dust. Leaves. Sap. Bird + animal droppings. And when you live around farming, there can also be potential contamination from things like agricultural spraying.

Then it rains… and where does it all go? 👀

So when was the last time you:
💧 Cleaned your tank?
💧 Cleaned your gutters?
💧 Checked your first flush?
💧 Changed your filters?
💧 Actually tested your water?

And here's where my hairdresser brain kicks in…

We spend hundreds on colour and professional haircare, but the water running through our hair every single wash is often completely overlooked.

Minerals + buildup from water can accumulate on the hair and potentially affect how it feels, looks and behaves — including when we're colouring it.

So sometimes your shampoo isn't s**t.

Your conditioner isn't “not working.”

And your colourist isn't fighting just your previous colour.

We might also be fighting what your water has been leaving behind.

And THIS is why I've become slightly obsessed with understanding the water my clients are washing their hair in. 😂

Tell me you’re a Western Queensland hairdresser without telling me…

A 1-hour drive.
9 beautiful women.
An entire salon packed into the car.
And one very early start. 🤍

This is wedding hair out west.

The kind of morning where you load everything you could possibly need into the car, drive an hour down the road and set up your little travelling salon wherever the wedding takes you.

9 hairstyles.
One beautiful bridal party.
Mums included.
Hours of curling, pinning, tweaking, laughing and making sure every single woman still felt like herself.

The goal was never for everyone to look the same.

It was effortless.
Soft.
Individual.
But cohesive enough that when they all stood together, it just made sense.

And somehow we even had a full moon watching over the whole thing. 🌕

There’s something pretty bloody special about doing weddings out here. 🤍

Hairdresser unpopular opinion:

I don’t actually want to give you the exact hair in your inspiration photo.

You are probs thinking WTF? 😳

I actually want to know... what you love about it.

Is it the brightness?
The softness?
The contrast?
The way it frames her face?
The fact it looks expensive but still effortless?

Because my job isn’t to copy and paste somebody else’s hair onto your head.

It’s to take what you’re drawn to and create a version that actually works with your hair, your skin tone, your maintenance, your lifestyle and where your hair is starting from.

Because sometimes… the best results are actually the one you didn’t know to ask for.

HOT TAKE: Your dream hair probably isn’t one appointment away.

And if someone is promising you a complete transformation in one sitting without talking about your hair history, condition, maintenance or home care… are they a hair magician, if you do please send my way... I’m calling bulls**t.

Could one appointment make a massive difference? Absolutely.

But the hair you keep saving to your Pinterest board usually comes from multiple appointments + a proper plan.

Because we need to consider:

💖where your hair is starting
🧡previous colour and damage
🩷what actually suits your skin tone + lifestyle
💖how much lightening your hair can safely handle
🧡how often you’re willing to maintain it
🩷and what you’re doing at home between appointments

And this is the part people forget:

🫵🏼 Your home care is part of the colour service.

If you’re using products that aren’t supporting your colour, strength, moisture or scalp, I can create beautiful hair in the salon… but I can’t make it stay beautiful for the next 8–12 weeks without your help.

So if you’re coming to me for your dream hair, I don’t want you thinking:

"I’ll book one appointment and see how it goes."

I want us thinking:

"Where are we going, and what’s the healthiest way to get there?"

You might be one appointment away.

You might be three.

You might need six months.

My job isn’t to get you there the fastest.

It’s to get you there without destroying your hair along the way.

Dream hair isn’t an appointment.

It’s a commitment to the plan.

Spicy haircare opinion incoming… 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Organic haircare and professional performance haircare aren’t trying to solve the same problem.

And one doesn’t automatically make the other “bad.”

Organic can tell us something about how ingredients are sourced or produced.

But it doesn’t automatically tell us how that finished product will perform on your hair.

Because even organic haircare still relies on chemistry to cleanse, condition and create a result.

So for me, the question isn’t:

Is this natural or professional?

It’s:

What does this head of hair actually need?

Healthy, relatively untouched hair may love an organic range.

But bleached, coloured, heat-styled, porous or compromised hair may need a formulation designed for a very specific job — breakage, colour fade, frizz, buildup or damage.

So no, I’m not anti-organic.

I just don’t believe organic automatically equals better haircare.

Sometimes a product isn’t “bad”… we’re simply asking it to solve a problem it wasn’t designed to solve.

That’s why I choose products based on your hair, scalp, water, colour history and lifestyle.

Hair wellness isn’t about choosing a side.
It’s about choosing what works.
