Thanks Dan for pointing me to the right direction! I had landed my first Port Lincoln this early morning when I had a chance to sneak out for a quick run & gun sesh. Boast Hog 02 did the damage for me. For the rod, I only packed a with me for this family trip. The 4 pieces design and metal rod tube make the travel so much easier. Finally, I have upgraded my PB to 44cm TTT after a long long time. I am still shaking right now hahaha. She is definitely a fish to remember not because of my PB but how I caught it.

I spotted this momma digging the bottom around 5-6m away from me. I tried my best to minimise my body movement because I worried I would spook her. I tried couple of lures without success, but lucky enough to she was still busy with digging. Then, I gave my trusty Boast Hog 02 Kiwi rigged on 1/32oz jighead a shot. I casted further away and dragged it back super slowly. Once it reached her digging zone, I paused for 2 seconds and then fish on. She was barely hooked on her upper lip. Fortunately, she wasn’t fighting as hard as I would imagine. It took me not too long to land her.

After few quick photos and measurement, she was released safely back home to fight another day. Thank you momma!

Braving the wind and rain to just fish a narrow window before picking up my kids from school somehow turned out very rewarding. I basically used the same outfit as last week even with the same plastic and jighead ( Boast Hog 02 on a 1.3g jighead). I was lucky enough to find a small school of fish in the last 30 mins. They just couldn’t resist the Kiwi Boast Hog which was completely destroyed before I swapped to the Pumpkin Boast Hog that caught me the largest fish of the day. The hook up rate with this rig is just insanely good. Having said that, I had lost 2 bigger fish due to heavy drag setting, lesson learnt there!

The retrieve is as follow:
1. Cast it out
2. Let it drift and sink with current
3. When it touches the bottom, gently hop and then let it drift and sink
4. Repeat step 2 and 3
