🌿 Mixed Media Landscape Workshop with Amanda Tattam — Saturday 24th October!

Spring is here and there is no better time to celebrate our natural world through art! 🌸✨

Join the wonderful Amanda Tattam for a hands-on mixed media workshop where you'll explore colour, texture and everyday materials in ways that will genuinely surprise and delight you. 💛

Using reclaimed bits and pieces too good for landfill and from other art projects — dried paint, plastic, sparkles, glass and pigment — you'll create your very own reimagined landscape or nature scene on a base of wood or paper. Every single material gets a second life in your hands. ♻️🎨

Here's what you'll do:
🪵 Prepare your base — wood or paper
✨ Apply layers of texture, colour and found materials
🌈 Reimagine everyday items in ways that surprise you
🏞️ Build a picture of nature in whatever form calls to you

✨ All materials and equipment provided
👗 Wear old clothes — it's going to get beautifully messy!
👟 Enclosed shoes, please
👶 All ages welcome — children under 8 need an accompanying paying adult
🙌 No experience needed — just curiosity and a love of colour
Classes are kept small for personalised guidance throughout

About Amanda 🎨

Amanda is a mixed-media artist with over 20 years of experience in mosaic and mixed media art. She has studied in Italy, holds a Certificate IV in Visual Arts from Melbourne Polytechnic, and is a member of the Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand. Amanda believes that stories and memories live within reused materials — and that everyone has the ability to tap into their creativity. We couldn't agree more. 💛

“Do you wash the fabrics?”

The honest answer is no — and it’s simply not something we could physically or financially sustain at the volume we operate. Although we’ll be honest — both Sam and Katrina have been known to wash the occasional piece that was just too good to pass up! 😄💛

But here’s something we take very seriously — moths. 🦋

Every now and then we come across wool fabric that shows evidence of moth activity. And just like you don’t want those nasty little things making their way into your home, we absolutely don’t want them making their way through our shop either!

So we rely on two trusted products to help keep our shop — and your fabric purchases — safe:

💵 Cash or card — this one might surprise you.

We love our community and we will always accept card — but we wanted to share something that doesn't get talked about enough. 💛

When you pay by card, our 1.7% merchant fee means we receive $49.15 instead of $50. That means we have to top up the difference out of our own pocket every single time we pay wages, rent etc. 😬

Across our average 20 transactions a day that quietly adds up to around $17 a day heading straight to the big corporates. That's over $6,000 a year that could stay right here in our community. 💸

Yes, every small business has running costs — rent, wages, supplies. These are unavoidable, and we plan for them. But merchant fees are different. They are entirely avoidable — and unlike our other costs, they don't go back into the community by paying someone's wage. They go straight to institutions that frankly don't need them. 💸

Every cash sale goes further for us — and for every small business you love.
It costs you nothing but means everything. 🙏🌿

Due to this, we are introducing a minimum $5 spend for card payments. We appreciate your understanding and support on this. 💛

Simply send us your PDF pattern file before you come, and we'll have it printed and ready to go. No more hunting around for a print shop or paying ridiculous prices — just one easy stop! 💛

And if you're wondering how a fabric shop ended up with an A0 printer — it's a very us story. Someone needed it gone and if we hadn't stepped in, this perfectly good (and very heavy!) machine was heading straight to landfill. We couldn't let that happen. ♻️😄
So now it lives with us, it earns its keep, and we like to think it's very happy about it!
