What a pleasure it has been to have had so many wonderful authors visit us over winter. Thank you for visiting our shop, making our day, and leaving signed copies of your books for our bookish community to enjoy.

Mary and Henry, passionate beekeepers, left behind their established careers to pursue a life devoted to honeybees and the vital role they play in our ecosystems. 🐝 What began as a risk, turned into a deeply rewarding journey.

These two wonderful humans are truly making a difference to ecosystems and our world. 🌍

Calling all chocolate lovers 🍫 Kirsten Tibballs is the author of Chocolate All Day: recipes for indulgence - morning, noon and night. Because why shouldn’t we enjoy chocolate for breakfast?! YOLO.

Empowering children through her books, My Body My Brain & My Body My Rules, Nicki Gill introduces young readers to positive body boundaries, consent, and individual unique qualities. Essential additions to any family bookshelf and early learning centre.

Frogsong is a tender and delicate tale of love and addiction from Melissa - winner of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for her debut book and one of Australia’s brighter literary talents.

Our graphic novel workshops for kids were such a hit, we had to add an extra one. Andrea Innocent is the author and illustrator of Lamington Left Behind, and Andrea sure left behind a remarkable impression on these groups of budding young novelists!

Book Week peaked at Verso when Andy Griffiths visited. The Treehouse series and newest You & Me series are constant favourites amongst young readers, filled with laugh-out-loud moments, toilet humour, dad jokes and adventures.

Electrifying crime-thriller author surprised us with a visit to Verso. His 2026 book, The Gambler, is on our shelves now. And stay tuned for his next page-turner, The Good Soon, coming in early 2027.

Last weekend, Nina spent a morning with fellow booksellers and architectural guide Jake Taylor Architecture exploring the streets of Studley Park in Kew. Framed on three sides by the winding Yarra River, these quiet streets contain Australia’s finest concentration of modernist houses - a rare snapshot of mid-century Australian design.

Jake’s book, Riverside Modern is out at the beginning of September and features photography by Jack Lovel It’s a journey into one of Melbourne’s most remarkable architectural enclaves and a testament to the ambition, experimentation and enduring legacy of Australian modernism.

About last night…

What a privilege it was to be graced with Karen Comer’s presence at last night’s Educator Evening. It was a wonderful evening of books, verse and inspiration.

Karen shared her stories, her process, and many reasons why verse novels are wonderful for the most proficient, voracious readers as well as the most reluctant readers. Her award-winning Grace Notes and latest novel, Once Upon Tomorrow, are both available in store - we even have some signed copies. Thank you, Karen, for inspiring us. Our staff have been devouring your stories and we know many teachers and students are about to fall in love with them too.

Thank you to everyone who came along. We hope you found some wonderful new stories for your classrooms. And congratulations to our door prize winner… some lucky photography students at Upper Yarra Secondary College are about to discover some excellent new books!
