Old Maryborough Road is deteriorating rapidly it currently is not meant for the amount of heavy traffic using it as there is no Bitumen on the surface and may not be for a number of months. Large depressions are forming and vehicles towing trailers and caravans risk damage to their tyres and suspension particularly those travelling at speed. Also Hastings Street is only meant for local traffic but many are bypassing the detour at Romney Street. Hastings Street is starting to show cracks in the bitumen as it was never meant to carry trucks, buses and Semis the cement dust being stirred up is filtering into our house on our outside plants and vehicles and doesn’t wash off easily. Perhaps it might be better to use Boat Harbour Drive?

Traffic Controller explained that if anyone is caught entering Hastings Street from Old Maryborough Road East could face fines up to $23,000 😟

Update on Road works around Old Maryborough Road, Hastings Street and Tooth Street.
If you wish to access our business the detour is at Romney Street it will bring you to Hastings Street where we are situated but you won’t be able to right turn into Old Maryborough Road, you can left turn for now or do a U turn in Hastings Street go down Greenway Drive which will take you to Tooth Street (Golf Course)
However there will be further changes later this week, please watch out for detour signs and drive safely, we have seen a number of people incorrectly entering and exiting Hastings Street, the Detour Man will have a coronary if this keeps up 😉

Notice re upcoming Road Works
From the 8th of June 2026 to December 2026 Road works will commence in Old Maryborough Road, Tooth Street, Hastings Street and Picnic Street Hervey Bay to install traffic lights, bike paths, a pedestrian crossing etc, detours will be in place and all businesses in Old Maryborough Road will be open, we may be impacted more due to being at the upper end of Old Maryborough Road and Tooth Street please let us know if you have difficulty accessing our shop entrance in Hastings Street so we can inform Road Works Project Manager.
