Many of you know us through AC3D. You know the dinosaurs, the dragons, the markets and the smiles. Some of you know a little about Andrew’s journey.
But very few people know how we got here as a family.
I’m Amy, and this is part of our story.
Before AC3D, before markets, before dinosaurs and dragons, life looked very different.
My eldest brother, Adam, was a huge part of our lives. Adam had severe cerebral palsy. He couldn’t walk or talk, and from the day I was born, caring for him was simply part of our family’s everyday life.
But Adam was never defined by his disability.
He had the biggest smile, beautiful curly strawberry-blonde hair and the cheekiest personality. If you happened to be standing where he wanted to go, he’d happily kick you out of the way with no regrets —and he’d think it was hilarious.
He loved children’s TV shows, no matter how old he got. He was Brisbane lions number 1 fan, loved old-school and new music. He adored Ella, thought the world of Andrew and loved nothing more than being surrounded by the people he cared about!
When Adam suddenly passed away, our family changed forever.
The laughter became quieter. Birthdays, Christmas and family gatherings were never quite the same. There was an emptiness that followed us everywhere because someone so important was suddenly missing.
Then Andrews mum bought him a 3D printer.
At the time, it was just something for him to play with. We never imagined that one decision would become AC3D.
A hobby became a business.
And somewhere along the way, markets became home.
Every weekend we watch children run towards our stall with excitement. We hear laughter. We watch families make memories together. We meet people from every walk of life, and we get to be a tiny part of their day.
Without even realising it, those smiles were helping heal our family too.
Every market, I find myself thinking about Adam.
I can picture him there with us. I can picture him smiling at the children, listening to the music, soaking up the atmosphere and making sure everyone knew he was there. I truly believe he would’ve loved every minute of this journey.
People often tell us that AC3D brings joy to their family.
The truth is…
It brought joy back to ours.
If you’ve ever visited our stall, shared our journey or supported our family in any way, thank you.
You haven’t just supported a small business.
You’ve helped our family find happiness again after some of the hardest years of our lives.
I wish you all could have met Adam.
I think he would’ve loved every single one of you, just as much as he would’ve loved seeing what AC3D has become. 🤍
