There’s always something different in the shop, from antique and vintage furniture to pieces handcrafted by Chris, along with restoration hardware, lighting and other beautiful details for your home.

Wallpaper can add so much to a room.

It can be soft and subtle, adding just enough pattern or texture to make a hallway, bedroom or sitting room feel more finished. Or it can be bold and striking, which can be wonderful in smaller spaces like powder rooms, entries and rooms where you want more impact.

In older houses, wallpaper can also help bring back some of the detail and character that may have been lost over time. It doesn’t have to feel old-fashioned or overpowering. The right wallpaper can be quiet, elegant, playful, traditional or dramatic, depending on the room and the effect you want.

At Fragments, we have wallpaper books in store, along with Porter’s Paints, lighting, door hardware, bathroom fittings and many of the other details that help a period home renovation look and feel right.

Come in and have a look through the books if you’re thinking about using wallpaper in your home. Samples are always worth seeing in real life.

If you’re planning a new kitchen, laundry or pantry, I hope a fireclay sink is high on your list!

I know there are plenty of practical decisions to make when you’re renovating, and it’s easy to think of a sink as just one more thing to choose. But the right sink can completely change the look and feel of a room.

Fireclay sinks aren’t only for farmhouse kitchens. They can be classic, simple, generous, decorative, or quite contemporary, depending on the shape, installation and tapware you choose.

They’re one of those choices that never dates. They have character, weight and warmth, and they work beautifully in old houses as well as newer spaces where you want something more timeless than a standard stainless steel sink.

At Fragments, we sell the full range of Turner Hastings and 1901 Sinks, including farmhouse, butler, fluted, undermount, single- and double-bowl designs.

One of the things I’ve always admired about Chris is his ability to see possibilities in old furniture that most of us would miss. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at pieces of furniture in the basement at the shop that he’s picked up at auction and thought, “What on earth does he want that for?” He always has a reason and a plan, though.

This sofa table started life as a much larger old table. Part of the top was no longer usable, so Chris narrowed it down, kept the beautiful original edges and character of the timber, and added drawers to create something entirely new.

That kind of creativity is such a big part of what makes his furniture special. He has an extraordinary eye for proportion and detail and somehow manages to make a reworked piece feel completely natural, as though this is what it was always meant to be.

It’s now in the shop at Fragments, and there won’t be another one quite like it.

Chris has just brought another Arcadian Work Table into the shop this week.

He’s made many of these over the years, but no two are ever quite the same. Each one has its own proportions, timber character, painted finish, hardware and details; all part of what makes them so special.

They’ve always been a customer favourite at Fragments: practical, sturdy, full of character, and perfect for use in a kitchen.

This one has a beautifully distressed timber top, a painted dark blue base, brass hardware, a drawer, side hooks and a lower shelf for storage or display.

A refined take on a bathroom essential.

This mirrored shaving cabinet by Turner Hastings combines clean, architectural lines with a gently detailed frame, designed to suit period and classic bathrooms. It can be semi-recessed into the wall for a more integrated look, reducing visual bulk while offering practical storage (essential in every bathroom!).

It's available in English Bronze (my favourite), Brushed Brass, and Chrome.
