I think we’ve forgotten a lot of that. We forgotten to stop and smell the Roses now it’s about how it can perform for us not the beauty of it. The feel of it the smell of it that one moment in a season..

There is a moment in a extraction when the distinction between plant and glycerin begins to disappear.

Weeks of quiet maceration, and the botanical slowly surrenders itself — its colour, its essence, its hidden constituents — into the glycerin.

Until they become one.

This is the old way:
plant, time, and patience.

I wonder when we became so uncomfortable with simply being still.

Everything seems to need a reason now.
A benefit.
An outcome.
Even rest has somehow become something we’re supposed to be good at.

Maybe that’s why I keep coming back to these images of the body amongst roses. Not because I have an answer for anyone.

I just find something beautiful in the thought of being held for a while.

I imagine what this would actually feel like. Suspended in the air, wrapped inside the petals of an old rose. That beautiful scent all around me. Soft petals against my skin.

Nothing to do. Nothing hurting.

Just the feeling of being held and safe.

Six months ago, I put Immortelle — the little plant most people know as curry plant — beneath alcohol.

Today I finally strained it.

And this is the part I love about working this way. You can read everything there is to know about a plant, but nothing quite prepares you for what happens after months inside a jar.

Because this doesn’t smell like curry to me.

It smells like coffee. ☕️

Warm, deep, almost roasted… and absolutely beautiful(if you love coffee😂).

And here I am, working with this same strange little plant in two completely different worlds — perfume and my nervous-system work.

Six months of waiting just to open the lid and discover what it decided to become.

Now it’s recapped.

And back to waiting.

But sometimes I think we spend so much time asking what a plant does, we forget to simply experience it.

The colour. 🌈
The feel. 💐
The smell.👃

Letting it sit and breathe in oil for months and months, then opening that jar and smelling what it has become… that’s the part I love.

Now another part of her infused in the alcohol.
Another extraction, another wait.

Maybe not everything needs explaining.
Sometimes you just need to feel it. Smell it. Let the plant have the dance. 🌿

I wish you could smell through the screen. 😩🍯
