‘Danjoo’
My most recent piece done for Esperance Residential College

‘Danjoo’ meaning ‘coming together’ in Noongar language. It represents the experience going to the residential college, as a past student there, to me this painting shows students coming together from all over WA for the same purpose, coming together to have a home away from home to continue schooling. The painting represents Esperance with all its different environments from the trees to the beautiful ocean. It shows the journey we all made from our homes to the resi college, with the staff there to support us during this transition of our lives. I have included many different colours to this painting representing all the different people and personalities attending the Esperance Residential College.

This is an original painting of mine which represents the journey of an individual whom has been guided by a group of people through physical and spiritual connection to get to their final meeting place which could represent a group of people or a community/place.

Just a follow up about the story on this piece,
This piece for headspace Esperance represents their journey moving to a new building with everyone who was their during that journey by their side. The people in the middle represents the Headspace team and everyone who goes there for whatever it may be. The blue represents the ocean as it is down the road and is a main part of Esperance. The green represents both Headspace, the land and the bush as a major surrounding of Esperance. I town by the sea.

****Headspace centres act as a one-stop-shop for young people who need help with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drugs or work and study support.****

Very proud of myself after completing my most recent commission piece for headspace Esperance representing Esperance and their journey while moving to their new location in town.
My first piece for a business and very happy with it being headspace I really enjoyed this one and looking forward to more commissions in the future.

*Kwilena* which means dolphin in Noongar language
6 dolphins swimming through the oceans currents. Dolphins tend to swim in groups which I’ve tried to incorporate in this story and on either side of the piece represents the waterways and currents.
