“A lot of folks have asked: Where did you go?
Fair question.
Back in June 2024, I was approaching a milestone birthday… and Huon Bikes had just hit 10 years. That combination sparked something—I felt a strong pull to step away and try something new.
Mid-life crisis? Maybe. But it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made.
I closed the business and, after six weeks of training, got my HR licence and became a bus driver with Metro Tasmania.
Long days, new challenges, great people—I threw myself into it and loved every minute. The camaraderie, the routines, and yes… even driving to the top of Kunanyi / Mount Wellington for the Point to Pinnacle event. That was a highlight.
After that chapter, the family and I had some unfinished business.
Pre-COVID, we’d planned a trip to Japan and I was preparing to launch guided bike tours in the Huon Valley. Then the world changed.
So last year, we finally made it happen.
Japan was incredible—the culture, the people, the public transport (and yes… 7-Eleven and FamilyMart 😄).
Since returning, I’ve focused on family, home renovations, and getting serious about health and fitness. It’s been a proper reset.
And now…
Huon Bikes is back.
Slower, more intentional, but with fresh energy and a clear direction. I’m excited to rebuild, reconnect, and see where this next chapter leads.
Thanks for sticking around—and I hope you’ll be part of what comes next.
