Today I finally routed out the stencil for the tremolo cavity. As well as finished the main routing of the prototype body. Next stage is to finalise the drilling for the wiring as well as the jack, and the arm and tummy cuts. Then I'll test the placement of the bridge and pickguard. And once all that is complete, its then onto paint.

It's a cool feeling to hold the body and realise that this is my own guitar shape and not a replacement body from another guitar brand. I know once it is finished it'll be surreal to play the finished instrument and know its my own guitar.

Don't worry, in the coming months it will soon be possible to buy your own SBO Guitar and hopefully have a similar feeling to me.

The prototype body is almost ready! This body is made from Empress and as I have learnt, is not very fun to work with. It’s incredibly soft and tends to chip and dent very easily. So you can guarantee SBO Guitars will not be made from it. This prototype body will still be made however, it will just not be sold. This guitar is more about how the stencils will work as far as routing out cavities and figuring out where to drill holes. Still in the works is the concept of the guitar jack being hidden in the tail fins (dollar fins as I call them), so that when placing the guitar down, it’s not resting on the cable or jack. At this stage I still need to source new timber as well as some more routing bits. But there will be an SBO Guitar to showcase in the coming months, don’t you worry!

Sorry for the lengthy absence on this page. I haven’t forgotten about it, don’t worry. Things have just been really busy for me regarding these guitars. I have acquired some much needed tools and machinery as of recent and am starting the manufacturing and R&D for my own unique guitar shape. You may be wondering what happened to the red one I was working on? Well that ended up flying down the driveway and becoming quite damaged (not thrown out of frustration believe it or not, but from a freak gust of wind as it was drying).

I will be updating this page more as I continue the work and will hopefully even have purchasable guitars in the next few months, with plenty of time left for Christmas (An SBO Guitar under the ol’ Chrissy tree would sound perfect to me). Watch this space as I am also updating the look of the page as well as starting other social media accounts so you may even be able to watch me build these guitars along with me!

Much love to all who are following, there’s still LOTS more to come!!

Finally put some colour on one of the prototype guitars. I’m already looking into how I want to reshape the bodies of these to suit my own style. For now, this will be more than enough, so happy with how the colour came out.

Been sleeping on this page for a bit. But I have been busy. Currently still working on the prototype for some custom work I plan to sell in the future. This guitar will serve as a display item and will be passed around to friends to try out, but ultimately won’t be sold. The shape is obviously very close to another guitar brand, but I plan to soon cut my own shapes and sell them to you guys! For now enjoy the progress off this guitar and others I am building for friends and myself!

Todays job was to install a battery box for the EMG pickups. As well as some basic repairs to the wiring (still more work to do). Also swapped in a chrome EMG 81 on the bridge for some added extra crunch. Then to finish it off my old Squire got a new set up, new strings, and a good clean!
