Hearing her story—from Sudan to Cairo, Cairo to Sydney, and finally Geelong—was incredibly moving.

Hopeless Kingdom is a powerful autofiction told through the interchanging perspectives of a mother and daughter, inspired by Kgshak’s own journey of migration to Australia. A truly beautiful and important story.

It was such a pleasure spending time with someone so genuine, inspiring, and kind—inside and out. I’m already looking forward to the next book ✨📚
