Pool always cloudy?

When was the last time you had a media change?

A recent filter replacement shows why you need to replace your media a number of times over the filters lifespan. Media lifespan depends on type.

Biofilm is a slimy layer formed by bacteria creating a physical barrier causing poor filtration and bad water quality. Channeling also occurs creating a path for unfiltered water to pass straight through the filter.

We have been using AFM ng (Activated Filter Media Next Generation) for some time and see the benefits first hand. It is a self-sterilizing, hydrophobic filter media made from pure recycled green and brown glass and prevents bio-fouling or bacterial growth.

Using sand as an example, if managed well, it should last 3 - 5 years at optimal filtration. AFM will last 10+ years.

We are on the lookout for some new staff.

RETAIL ASSISTANT - CASUAL

Averaging 12 - 18hrs per week, must be able to work Saturdays 10am - 2pm. Computer literate, good communicator that loves dealing with customers. Some front of house experience preferred but not essential for the right person. Need to be able to lift and carry 20kgs, Training provided. Perfect for a uni student on summer holidays or someone looking for some part time/casual work.

POOL AND SPA SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Full time position, Monday to friday. Experience essential. We have space for either a technician that can do everything from regular cleans, equipment installs and diagnosing faults, or someone that just wants do regular cleans. Part time is also a possibility. Salary based on experience and role. Ideally living close to ivanhoe.

Now we are having glimpses of warmer weather, we have extended our trading hours.

We are now open from 10am to 2pm Monday through Saturday.

With the cold weather in full swing, it is just as important as ever to ensure your pool is running properly and to minimise potentially expensive repairs.

Emptying the skimmer baskets regularly will ensure full flow through the system and reduce debris load in the pool. A skimmer basket this full can lead to a broken basket, blockage in the pipe or reduce the water flow which can cause damage to your pump or stop your chlorinator from working.

Check your baskets regularly, especially after bad weather.

A recent job we finished. The power was switched off so the pool went green (there are also 2 massive gum trees right above the pool). This is over 3 visits and about 1.5hrs in total to bring this back on line. Process was to remove debris with the Riptide Pool Vac, brush the walls and floor, shock and floc, vac to waste then finish off with a final test and balance.
