How to modify a sh*tty $10 Aldi Branded guitar neck into a BarrowBox signature headstock shape in an afternoon. This is just an early mock up so the question is: Does it look its best in black or do I strip it back to natural wood again ?????

I had an appointment at Redcliffe yesterday afternoon and when I came out from that I was sure that I could hear music playing somewhere so I wandered up the road to investigate and realised it is the 77th local Annual Redcliffe Show this weekend. I had a couple of hours to kill so I went in for a look around. Sadly a lot of stuff was pretty ordinary but in the Woodworking Pavilion there was a display of locally hand made musical instruments including a subsection of CGB guitars made by the local high school students. There were some really interesting pieces in there, especially the Heart shaped Ukulele and the Lute. I thought the Biscuit Tin Bass was cool, nicely proportioned tin for a bass, but that Ukulele is just gorgeous !!!!

I had an awesome day at the Billi Box Fest on Saturday, it was great meeting this guy and other builders and players and if it happens again next year I think I wil take some of my guitars down and really be a part of it.

Noooooo !!!!!!!!! Ceramic slide V floor tiles = Total Heartbreak. 💔. In my opinion ceramic slides have the best feel and give the best tone and I waited weeks for this one to come from the UK (at huge expense) and now its in 4 pieces, sure hope I can get another one the same....

While the 6 string was under long term construction there were a couple of other projects completed, here is a 4 string "resonator" built simply to see if it would work. It does, there could be more of these if anybody would like one......

So, I swore I would never do an actual 6 string, by definition its outside the whole Cigar Box concept and waaaay outside my comfort zone....but.....one of my mates insisted and after many, many months it was finally delivered to him this morning. Maybe I shouldn't be giving away too many of my secrets but here's an album showing some of the steps along the way:
